Wokingham born pop star Will Young has been installed as one of the bookies favourites to win this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The BBC TV contest launches on Saturday night and will see the Pop Idol winner take on celebrities such as Lesley Joseph, Judge Rinder and Louise Redknapp.
People betting on Mr Young to win are being offered odds of 4/1 – a far cry from Ed Balls’ 66/1 – by online bookies Boyle Sports.
Fellow contestant Judge Rinder who is now 16/1 from 20/1 having been initially installed at 25/1.
Elsewhere, Bray’s Laura Whitmore will be bidding to become the first Irish star to win the dance show. Despite revealing that she feels out of her depth on the Strictly dance floor, it’s not stopping Boyle Sports punters from getting stuck into her current price of 7/1 to win.
Another star to see support is WAG Louise Redknapp who is now 13/2 from 9/1 to win. Gymnast Claudia Fragapane remains the favourite to win at 10/3 with singer Will Young next in the betting at 4/1.
Liam Glynn, BoyleSports’ spokesperson, said: “Judge Rinder is the latest to see support in what has already been a lively betting market even though we haven’t seen any of the contestants strut their stuff on the dance floor just yet.”
