BOSSES of a new-look pizza restaurant in Wokingham’s town centre are promising to bring a touch of the theatre to dining out.
The PizzaExpress branch in Broad Street has reopened following an extensive refurbishment and is one of the first in the country to be revamped in this way.
A new kitchen has been built in the heart of the store, which owners say will bring the theatre and authenticity of PizzaExpress’ craft to the fore.
Special lighting has been installed that will help diners watch the chefs – known as pizzaiolos – prepare pizza dough.
And diners can enjoy sitting at white marble tables and the firm says that the new teal, yellow and rose furnishings compliment the re-design further,
The revamp also includes a new portrait of PeterBoizot, the man who first launched PizzaExpress in the UK in 1965.
The restaurant also includes a new summer menu, which include three new pizzas: a Fungi di Bosco, a Roasted Veg & Ricotta pizza and a Vegan Roasted Veg Special.
A new Italian Tomato Dip replaces passata on these new additions.
In a statement, Zac Zouaoui, PizzaExpress Wokingham Pizzeria Manager, said: “We’re excited to welcome our Wokingham superfans back to our stylish new pizzeria, which now showcases the kitchen at its heart, designed to allow our customers to watch our talented pizzaiolos freshly handmake their pizza to order.
“We’re offering returning customers a glass of fizz on the house this July, so come and raise a glass to celebrate ‘Good times. Together’ with us in our new home.”
