IT MIGHT be the height of summer, but if you see a teenager in Charvil wearing a scarf it’s all OK. She’s just not used to have a chilly neck.
Last Friday, Lily Emmett had a haircut – her first for six years.
The 15-year-old had decided to start her school holidays with a short, back and sides: some considerable difference to the long, blonde locks she had been cultivating.
And there’s a good reason for her chop. She is donating the excess hair to The Little Princess Trust. The charity provides real hair wigs to under 24s who have lost their own hair due to cancer and other illnesses.
Proud Mum Vicki said: “It takes 10 hair donations to make one wig.
“Lily has also received sponsorship for the cut, with all the money raised going to the trust.”
She added: “This was all Lily’s own idea. Once she gets an idea in her head, she won’t let it go.
“She won’t do small things, she’ll do something big.”
Lily’s hair was cut at the Salon in Reading College.
