The new Prime Minister of the UK will be a strong voice and a fantastic leader.
That’s the verdict of Wokingham Conservatives leader Cllr Keith Baker.
Speaking to The Wokingham Paper, he praised Theresa May for being a strong constituency MP.
Mrs May will become Prime Minister on Wednesday, taking over from David Cameron who resigned after the European referendum.
Cllr Baker, who also leads Wokingham Borough Council, said: “As Leader of the Council and the Conservative Group, I am pleased that we now have a Prime Minister who represents part of our Borough.
“Theresa has always been strong in speaking up for this Council and our residents, and it is fantastic that this voice will now be coming from Number 10.
“Personally, I have known Theresa for 10 years, and have acted as her election agent during general elections. I have watched her grow in her role as an MP, and climb the ladder from Opposition to the Home Office, and now to Downing Street.
“She will make a fantastic Prime Minister, and on behalf of myself and my colleagues on the Council, I wish her good luck.”
