Jessy’s, a popular restaurant that specialised in gluten free dishes, has shut its doors.
The Wokingham town centre diner opened in September last year, had become a firm favourite for many after devising a menu that was suitable for coeliacs.
It offered everything from breakfast to evening meals and had a Stateside influence as owner Jessica Palmer is half-American.
The independently owned diner was on the site of the old Don Beni restaurant.
In a post on their Facebook page on Wednesday, August 17, Jessy’s announced the news of their immediate closure.
The message reads: “It is with regret that we inform you that Jessy’s is permanently closed.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful loyal customers, followers and friends for all their support over the past year.
“What an amazing experience it has been! We look forward to many more.”
The post has attracted many comments from well wishers who were shocked to learn the news, often noting that the diner was busy and popular.
Other customers praised the service they received in the restaurant, which is in Denmark Street in Wokingham’s town centre. It is opposite the central library and close to Elms Field. Although close to the regeneration site, the building is not directly affected by it.
