THE idea that libraries are fusty places were everyone has to be sssshed into silence will be dispelled thanks to a special event coming up next month.
On Saturday, October 6, Wokingham Library in Denmark Street will be turned into a Fun Palace, offering something for artists and scientists alike.
The event starts with a Dad and Baby Rhymetime from 10am to 10.30am.
The Mighty Lemons ukulele band will be performing familiar songs at 11am to noon and there will also be the chance to try out the instruments when they have finished their set.
Youngsters aged nine to 12 will be able to try a Code Club, with beginners sessions at 10.15am and advanced ones from 11.10am.
Wokingham Library’s teen creative writing club Igniting Writing will explore metaphor madness from 10am to noon. At the same time, there is a poppy making craft activity in preparation for the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
Biscuit decorating sessions will run from 10am to noon, while Rachel Freegard will run a Gemstone Cabochon Necklace Workshop from 10am to 1pm.
All events are free apart from the necklace workshop, which charges £3.50 charge for materials.
