Day 19 of the Living Advent Calendar was special because it contained two performance – and one was a tribute to a big supporter of the calendar.
At 4pm, Denmark Street jewellers Kaanaanmaa hosted a live performance of light-hearted jazz, including popular American songbook compositions with a touch of Tina Turner.
It came from the very talented Gillie Tunley and the set was enhanced with some tasty refreshments from Kaanaanmaa, served by the deputy town mayor, Cllr Gwynneth Hewetson.
Then, at 5pm, there was an extra performance in memory of a musical director who passed away earlier this year.
At Code Boutique on Peach Street Gillie and a number of past members of Cloudglider sang a selection of songs celebrating the life of Elisa Ghoebriel, creator of the group. Elisa along with Cloudglider members and associated acts were featured in past Living Advent Calendars.
Tomorrow the performance is a live nativity at Wokingham Theatre and is a ticketed event – all tickets have been snapped up, so the event is sold out. However, if you’ve like to attend a live nativity then, also from 4pm, ChristChurch is holding one at Montague Park. There will be mulled wine and hot chocolate to enjoy at the event.
On Monday, December 20, we enter the final countdown to Christmas and the host venue will be Broad Street Tavern. It’s back to 6.15pm for this performance. What will it be? Find out on Monday!
