On the second day of Advent Wokingham came together to decorate the borough’s Christmas tree.
Market Place was the venue for the second event in the annual Living Advent Calendar and it saw local schools bring forward their decorations to add to the tree, watched and aided by town mayor, Councillor Philip Mirfin.
The event included a short introduction by Cllr Mirfin and Cllr Andrew Waters and carol singing including favourites such as Away In A Manger. The singing was led by Wokingham Choral Society.
Refreshments to the evening were served by the 1st Winnersh Scouts, and supplied by Morrisons in Woosehill and Waitrose’s Wokingham branch.
Schools taking part were: Foundry College, Evendons Primary, Emmbrook Infants, Wescott School, Walter Infants, Hawthorns School, St Teresa’s School, All Saints School, Emmbrook Junior and Westende School.
Every day between December 1 and 24 there will be a short performance from a range of acts including live bands, choirs, dance groups, musicians, a capella groups and much more, including The Rock Choir, Military Wives Choir and local musician Bruce Neil.
The next Living Advent Calendar event takes place on Thursday, December 3 at 6.15pm at Marks & Spencer in Peach Street.
