Wokingham voted REMAIN in the European referendum, both bucking the national trend and also going against the grain of MP John Redwood’s opinion on the matter.
The turnout was also above the national average – 80.03% as opposed to 72%.
While the country as a whole has narrowly backed Brexit by approximately 52% to 48%, in Wokingham that figure was reversed – 57% of voters in the borough backed REMAIN while 43% voted to LEAVE.
The verdict was marked on Twitter by people generally happy with the result. Here’s some of their tweets:
I know nothing about England, but if there was one region I would guess voting for leave, it’d be ”Wokingham” I’m wrong. Dang sheeple.
