A DIRECTOR from Wokingham Borough Council’s housing companies has been shortlisted for a national award.
Rachel Harrison, who is the financial director for Wokingham Housing (WHL), Loddon Homes and Berry Brook Homes is one of the people up for the Women in Housing awards.
This is the seventh year of the awards that aim to highlight the work and achievements of the many women who make a major contribution to the housing sector.
Ms Harrison has been shortlisted for Finance Professional of the Year and joined the council’s companies in 2017. Her background is in management consulting, investment banking and private equity, making this her first role within the housing industry.
She is responsible for the company’s financial business planning and forecasting, as well as ensuring that the organisations remain well funded.
Ms Harrison said: “I am delighted to have been short-listed, it is great to be recognised amongst my peers in the housing industry. What’s more, it is fantastic to be part of a growing number of women in this sector, where over 70% of our own workforce across the LHC’s are female.
“We are a great team that is responsible for driving positive change for the Borough.”
Bill Flood, managing director for the companies, said: “Rachel made an impact from the moment she joined us, immediately identifying areas for improvement and streamlining our financial reporting and processes. This is nothing short of the recognition she deserves and I wish her every success at the awards ceremony.”
The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 10, at the Emirates, Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester.
