Slimming World held its Woman of the Year competition in all the Wokingham groups last week. Across the Wokingham Salvation Army, Winnersh and Woosehill the winners lost over 40 stone in total.
Members are nominated by fellow members in their individual groups as women who may not have lost the most amount of weight, but who always help support, encourage and inspire others.
The weekly groups are where members receive support and encouragement from not only their Consultant but also from other members who are either on their journey or Target members who have lost weight and come along to maintain and encourage other members.
Finalists for the competition are then asked to tell the group about their journey. This can be very emotional but also is a brilliant encouragement for new members who realise that others have encountered and overcome the problems that they may be facing.
It shows members that they are understood and that they do not have to go through their weight loss journey alone and that there are others who have been in their shoes.
A vote was taken for the winners and votes totalled whist all the members enjoy sharing tasters of food dishes of Slimming World food that everyone has prepared and brought along.
Finals for this yearly competition are always great fun with members sharing stories, food and laughs.
Although we have winners for the competition, all the Consultants truly believe that everyone is a winner in group.
Winners at Winnersh were Susan at 9.30 (5st 5lb), Charlotte at 5.30 (5st) and Laura at 7.30 (4st 8lb)
Salvation Army winners were 9.30 Anna (3st 11lb), 11.30 Hillary (4st 4lb), 5.30 Cath (5st 11lb) and 7.30 Stephanie (1st 13.5lb).
