THE QUEEN’S HEAD in Wokingham’s town centre head a beer festival over the bank holiday weekend – and it was so busy that staff could barely keep up with demand.
The pub, in The Terrace, was packed with beer lovers keen to sample a mixture of local and interesting brews, enjoy a barbecue and soak up the sunshine.
Running from Friday through to Whitsun holiday Monday, the event was a smash hit.
Six different real ales were on tap, including Best of British from Bond Brews, Stardust’s Motion IPA and Timothy Taylor’s Boltmaker.
There were also real ciders, with Crazy Dave’s Berkshire Angel alongside Tutts Clump Berkshire Diamond.
While the pub was doing a roaring trade, the bar didn’t run dry: there was still the usual mixture on the taps inside including the Queen’s Head Bitter, a house ale.
And foodies could enjoy bacon cheese burgers, a rumpsteak and blue cheese roll or halloumi burgers.
There was also live music on the Sunday afternoon.
It’s not the only festival that the pub has coming up.
On Thursday, June 20, it will be holding its traditional Ascot Ladies Day celebration. Customers will be invited to wear their best bib and tucker as if they were going to the races, and enjoy a day of Pimm’s, dancing and fun.
