A woman who died in an incident in Lower Earley yesterday has been named as 83-year-old Josephine Williamson.
Yesterday, Thames Valley Police revealed that an 88-year-old man had been arrested in connection with this incident.
At around 11.25am yesterday, officers were called to an address in Elm Lane, Lower Earley by the ambulance service who had attended to treat a woman in her eighties. The woman was declared dead at the scene. A man also in his eighties was found at the scene with injuries to the stomach and was airlifted to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford.
Forsenic police were on site to investigate the property.
Det Ch Insp Mark Glover is leading the investigation for Thames Valley Police.
He said; “We are in the process of determining the circumstances leading up to Josephine’s death and the man’s injuries. However at this stage it appears to be an isolated incident with no other party involvement.
“Next of kin have been informed. Forensic examinations are taking place at the property and officers are likely to be there for some time. We would like to thank the local residents for their patience and tolerance while we carry out our investigation.”
A man, aged 88 from the Reading area, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
