A remarkable second half display saw Woodley take the points as they hit five goals past Warsash Wasps after the teams had go in level at the break.
This was a game of two halves with the lethargic Woodley of the first half being replaced by a high tempo energetic second half Woodley that scored five goals to win only their second league match of the season.
Despite the first half showing Woodley, enjoyed the greater possession but with winless Warsash playing deep the hosts found it difficult to trouble Jessica Timbrell in the Wasps goal. The one time she was beaten by Freya Jenkins, the ball rebounded of the upright back into the keeper’s hands in the thirty fifth minute.
Against the run of play Warsash took the lead three minutes later when Danielle Cheyney attacked down Wasps left hand side and shot over Nicole Haines from distance.
The lead was short lived with Mollie Haines levelling the scores five minutes before half time when she ran on to a Rebecca Gooch pass to slot pass the advancing Timbrell.
From the start of the second half Woodley were positive with Jenkins forcing Timbrell to concede a corner. Ellen Surtees corner kick found Rosie Page-Smith at the far post to head the home team in to the lead two minutes into the half.
An identical corner kick in the sixth first minute following Timbrell denying Jenkins, saw Page-Smith score her second header.
Page-Smith turned provider two minutes later when she passed to Jenkins whose run preceded a shot across goal and into the far side netting for Woodley’s fourth goal.
Amie Benton fired over after good team play but it was not until the eightieth minute that Woodley scored their fifth when another Surtees corner to the far post was again headed into the net, this time by Gooch. Surtees completed the scoring two minutes later when her free kick went under Timbrell into the net.
Despite this being the final goal, Eva Thomas also saw a shot go over the cross bar following good build up play in the closing minutes of the match.
