The bookshop was also promoting David Walliams’ new title entitled The Queen’s Arang-utan, with all proceeds going to Comic Relief.
Lesley, who works at the shop, said: “Everyone got involved for Comic Relief and we had our own British Bake Off. A couple of customers made some of the cakes and some were made by staff. The cakes looked and tasted delicious”.
The original target was £65 to raise money for one health worker in South Africa to get around by mountain bike, but the final total was actually £193.12 meaning that 3 health workers will get a bike.
Lesley added: “We had already broken our target by Thursday but to raise the amount that we have is great – it just shows what a generous bunch of people, the people from Woodley are.”
